"Sip & Shop" and Silent Auction to benefit WNC
Share
UpStyled Goods is proud to announce we're a stop for Downtown Asheboro's First Sip & Shop to be held on Saturday, Feb. 22nd from 12 - 4 pm. But that's not all! We will also have food tastings, special sales and a Silent Auction to benefit our Western NC counties.
The Silent Auction, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 pm, will honor Diamond Brand Gear (DBG) of Fletcher, NC. After 134 years of operations, DBG closed their doors at the end of 2024 due to irreparable damages sustained during Hurricane Helene. This amazing manufacturing business first began in 1881.
On DBG's website, it states "We got our start in the heart of the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina– in a small, defunct hosiery mill that quickly turned into a thriving factory. When we first began our journey, the art of sewing permeated the area. Fifty years later, the textile industry began to offshore their facilities, resulting in the loss of 750,000 jobs from 1990-2011. This is why we’ve made it our mission and our legacy to revive the art and craft of sewing, giving life back to the unique local heritage that we all hold dear."
But on Sept. 27, 2024, the unthinkable happened. Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida and barrelled its way through Georgia, South Carolina, and the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Almost 6 months later, residents are still trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.
All proceeds from the Silent Auction will be given to the Salvation Army of Henderson, Polk and Transylvania Counties of WNC. Fletcher, the former home of DBG, is located in Henderson County. Many local businesses have donated amazing gifts, from gift cards to local restaurants, unique art pieces, baby gifts, jewelry, etc. We also have SIX pink bags with goodies in them to auction. These bags were made by DBG, and are some of the last ones from their upcycled collection.
So please help us help others by joining us on Saturday for the Sip & Shop and our Silent Auction. To purchase tickets for the Sip & Shop, please visit www.downtownasheboro.com.
